Claude Cummings Jr.

Claude Cummings Jr. is president of the Communications Workers of America (CWA). A Houston, Texas native, President Cummings is a longtime community activist who believes in the power of bringing people together to identify their common interests and solve problems. In 2023, he became the first Black man elected to lead CWA. Prior to his election as president, Cummings served as Vice President of CWA District 6, representing workers in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. There he was a leading voice in local and state politics, working with other organizations to organize robust and innovative GOTV programs in order to elect worker-friendly candidates.
